Overview of Key Stage 3

Overview of Key Stage 4

At KS4 students can opt to follow a BTEC in Performing Arts.  The Key Stage 4 curriculum content is provided in the latest version of our options booklet.  Students can also have their graded instrumental achievements recognised in their academic achievement.

Pupils receive 1hr per week within the timetable and the lessons are built around developing musical knowledge and understanding through practical and theoretical activities.

Within lessons pupils have the opportunity to sing and play music from various cultures and styles and develop their own creative skills during practical activities. Their knowledge and understanding of the various genres expands through practical units such as Musical Legends, Chinese Music, Reggae Music and Rap Music.

The resources in the building are superb and are available through break, lunch times and after school for practice, ensembles and other extracurricular activities that are run.  Many students also partake in extra curricular music lessons and partake in regular whole school performances
