The Wellbeing Hub
The Wellbeing Hub offers personalised, intensive support to students who are struggling to access their learning. The main objective of the Wellbeing Hub is to address and overcome any barriers to learning so that students can return to their lessons and access the education to which they are entitled.
Students' social, emotional and mental health is paramount to us at Walney School and we are proud to undertake a lot of work with our students in supporting their wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Hub is based in the Pupil Support Unit and is run by the school's Lead Mental Health Practitioner, Mrs Andrea Amacna. The Hub offers a safe, secure base for students and often serves as a short term stepping stone for individuals who are finding it difficult to access lessons. We firmly believe that the best place for students is in the classroom, learning, and the intervention work that takes place in the Wellbeing Hub supports students in their return to lessons.
Many students also access the Wellbeing Hub at break and lunchtimes and enjoy a range of relaxation activities, such as Lego building, jigsaws and colouring.
