Targeted Interventions

 Literacy

 Lexonik Leap

Aimed at learners with a standardised score of less than 85 or the EAL learner. This programme resolves phonics issues, using games and competitions. Materials are age appropriate for our students but address early stage phonics. It looks at basics, such as phones, graphemes and split digraphs – the fundamentals for decoding words.

 Lexonik Advance

Aimed at learners with a standardised reading score of 85-115. This programme improves students’ phonological awareness, automaticity, vocabulary and comprehension. By using repetition and rapid fire ‘games’, students become more fluent readers and their prefix / suffix awareness develops, supporting them with subject specific vocabulary across the board. We are aiming to deliver this programme to ALL students in Year 7.

 IDL Literacy

This a speaking-computer based multi-sensory system which supports learners with dyslexia and other learning difficulties to increase their reading and spelling ages. The programme was specifically designed for those with dyslexia, but can be used with any students needing literacy support. The programme covers the reading process from phonological awareness to fluency and includes components that improve spelling, handwriting, vocabulary and comprehension skills.

 Numeracy

 IDL Numeracy

This is a maths software resource that helps to improve ability for low-attaining learners in mathematics. It covers the fundamentals from KS1 and KS2 maths. The programme is designed for learners that have dyscalculia, although it is not limited to those with special educational needs. The software can also be used to support any learners who struggle with numeracy.
